Recycle your Christmas Tree!

Thanks to the hard work of local Boy Scout troops, the residents of Lacey don’t have to worry about disposing of their Christmas trees after the holidays. Now in its eighth year, the Scout’s “Tree Round-Up” service project provides curbside pick-up of trees in Lacey city limits. The trees are taken to the Thurston County Waste and Recovery Center and eventually recycled as compost and wood chips.

Trees will be recycled thanks to support and partnerships from LeMay Pacific Disposal, Asplundh Tree Service, and Thurston County Solid Waste.

This year the Boy Scout pick-up is scheduled for Saturday, January 6. To be eligible for pick-up, Lacey residents must have their trees to the curb by 8:00 a.m. on Saturday.

They need to be completely emptied of ornaments, tinsel, nails and stands to facilitate easy chipping.

The Boy Scouts accept donations for this great community service, to assist with troop activities. Please donate online at www.troop222wa.org or mail to BSA Troop 222, PO Box 5379, Lacey WA 98509. For questions, contact John at Troop 222, (360) 888-5215.
