Beginning Tuesday, September 15, the City’s contractor, Betschart Electrical Services LLC, will start construction of the Downtown Alley Lighting Project. Complimenting other City safety initiatives, this project will complete the installation of new LED lighting fixtures as well as the conversion of some existing lighting fixtures to LED in seven downtown alleys.

The alleyways were chosen based on criteria including crime trends, level of usage, and complexity of lighting installation. The City will pay for the lighting fixtures and installation, while monthly electricity costs will be covered by the building owner/tenant. Construction is expected to be complete by early October 2015.

Installation should have minimal impact to the general public. We expect only temporary blockage of alleys where work is being performed.  Our contractor and City staff will coordinate with adjacent businesses and residents to minimize impacts.
